DAILY RACE REPORT back to SOS home Monday, April 2: Here is my first update on the race. The keyboard is in french so bear with me: We just finished the first day and all went well so far. Today was just under 16miles: The easiest of the race: Tomorrow they say will be the most difficult; 21,miles and we will be going through the largest dunes in all of africa. it will be a very difficult day but I am glad we are getting it out of the way early. I am healthy so far. No blisters, no problem with the pack; just a bit heavy and i did not get too dehydrated today: The weather is ok so far. it is probably over a hundred now but was only in the upper nineties while we were on the coarse. tomorrow we will be out there longer so it will be pretty tough: Give everyone my love and let them know I am ok. Wednesday, April 4: Here is the update for today. (This is going to have to be short because I'm pretty tired). I just finished day 3. If you notice that my times are slower than expected, it's beause I've had to walk a lot, the terrain is merciless and the heat is really starting to get tough. But, I'm glad that I've gotten through these stages. So far no blisters, but my shoulders are killing me. There really isn't enough water on the course so I'm doing the best I can at rationing. Tomorrow is the 50 mi. stage and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get through it. It promises to be brutal. Thanks everyone for the supportive emails, they are really helping me through the tough parts. |
